Some temples like Uluwatu are also called additionally “Luhur” which means something like heavenly, original, transcendent, and ancestral. Like in any other temple, you need to be properly dressed to enter. It is nice and you will be rewarded along the way with remarkable views.
- Pura Besaikh-
Out of all the Hindu temples in Bali, Besakih is the biggest and the holiest temple complex on the island. From its entrance that feels like a ladder taking you directly to a cloud nine, to its location on the slopes of Mount Agung, everything would surely leave you in amazement! Timings to visit this place are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Four temples in the complex reflect four forms of God at compass points: Pura Batu Madeg in the north, Pura Kiduling Kreteg to the south, Pura Gelap in the east, and Pura Ulun Kulkul in the west. ‘Batu ngadeg’, literally ‘standing stone’, is found in the shrine of Meru Tumpang Sebelas at Pura Batu Madeg.
